SHEQ Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client is in the steel manufacturing business and has a vacancy for a SHEQ Manager in the Durban area. The purpose is for the Coordination of the implementation, maintenance and administration of the SHEQ Management System

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• B Sc Safety Management/N Diploma Health and Safety/Environmental Health
• SAMTRAC/NEBOSH
• Expert knowledge of ISO systems:
• 9001 – Quality
• 14001 – Environmental
• 18001 – Health and Safety
• Strength of character to stop unsafe acts in production or acts which may be potentially harmful to the environment or employee health

 Job Function: (Not Limited to):

• To eliminate risk and ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation and ensure Quality standards and accreditations are maintained.
• Conduct internal audits to identify system compliance – maintain record of audit findings.
• Raise non-conformances where risk to the business is identified – ensure all risk to People, Product, Process, Environment and Health is eliminated
• Conduct all incident and accident investigations – report to Department of Labour where required.
• Respond to all enquiries and notifications from regulated authorities
• Ensure all legal appointments are up to date – check emergency medical boxes are stocked, accessible and location is communicated.
• Prepare and present monthly SHEQ report to cover KPIs – new risk, non-conformances, accidents, injuries, audit results, training etc.
• Schedule statutory audits of external service providers.
• Report critical results such as Safety score, Incidence Rate and near misses on a monthly basis.
• Ensure contractors and site visitors undergo safety induction
• Co-ordinate and chair monthly SHE meetings – review risk and ensure non-conformances are closed off.
• Set annual SHEQ targets and objectives which lead to reduced cost and risk whilst maintaining product integrity
• Ensure SHEQ document and data control and site safety files and systems are maintained
• Co-ordinate emergency planning, fire and evacuation drills.
• Conduct micron readings, check quality, and complete SABS certificates in accordance with SABS standards
