SUMMARY:
Our client in the mining industry has an opportunity available for a SHEQ Manager in the Burgersfort, Limpopo area.

POSITION INFO:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Degree or diploma specialising in Safety, Engineering, Process or Mining is essential
  • A Degree or Diploma specialising in Environmental Studies will be an added advantage
  • In-depth understanding of the safety legislation e.g. Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and COID Act
  • A valid blasting certificate would be an advantage
  • Computer literacy in MS office applications, ISOMETRIX and SAP is essential
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Chief Safety Officer or Safety Manager is essential
  • A thorough knowledge of mining, engineering safety principles and processes is also essential
  • Good knowledge of Risk Management Framework, SHEQ policies and Codes of Practice will be required
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Knowledge of and exposure to the ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 systems will be a definite advantage
  • Sound knowledge of business management systems
  • Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate is essential
KPAs:
  • Promoting an effective Behavioural Safety culture on the Company''s shafts and surface areas
  • Leading, ensuring compliance of and co-ordinating the safety compliance and initiatives of contracting companies
  • Facilitating and managing the Company''s safety and health audits and recommending appropriate actions plans to eliminate serious incidents
  • Co-ordinating and analysing measurements of compliance with the applicable legislation
  • Managing and analysing safety data, information and statistics
  • Facilitating, analysing and co-ordinating Root Cause Analysis of all serious incidents and ensure the implementation of remedial actions to prevent future accidents
  • Determining Risk exposure and formulate management action plans to mitigate these risks
  • Compiling and managing Safety, Health and Environmental costs and budgets
  • Involvement in the development of group safety standards and procedures
