POSITION INFO:

SHERQ Manager, Sasolburg, R. Neg.

Overview:

Oversee the management and implementation of the site sustainability strategy and SHERQ performance. Manage overall SHERQ function to ensure legal compliance in respect of applicable legislation, standards, directives and policies. All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices.

Qualifications:

B.Tech or B.Sc in relevant field

Matric with Maths and Science

Experience:

6-10 years'' experience in the relevant field of which 3 years needs to include People Management level

Continuous improvement of the SHERQ function: • Develop and implement Strategic plans for Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk and Process Safety • Ensure that the SHERQ function is designed and managed in such a way that it provides support to the business processes • Ensure the SHERQ function is aligned with site, divisional and Group Key Performance Indicators • Manage the SHERQ function in such a manner that is supports the site''s sustainability • Through the implementation and maintenance of Behaviour Based Safety principals, instil a culture that supports sustainable SHERQ performance

Reporting SHERQ indicators: • Ensure compliance to Group requirements as set out in applicable Procedures • Set up functional reporting lines at SSB • Conduct regular assessment of submitted data for accuracy and trends • Support verification of data through 3rd party data assurance audits • Ensure all indicators are submitted on time to stakeholders

Sustainability: • Develop, plan and manage programs to monitor adherence to sustainability policies and standards on a continuous basis to ensure the site meets all relevant SHERQ & Process Safety requirements • Ensure risks are identified, assessed and required actions implemented to control and mitigate SHERQ business risks. • Ensure hazards associated with activities performed are managed through systems and procedures that promote safe work practices and effectively manage and control activities that could impact on the site''s sustainability

Legal Compliance: • Ensure that a system is available that enables access to a legal database • Ensure that legal requirements relevant to the operations is identified and adhered to • Collaborate with and assist the operational teams in solving legal non-compliances • Ensure that legal compliance audits are conducted as required • Where legal non-compliances are not resolved, ensure escalation to higher levels for resolution

Integrated Management systems: • Manage and maintain the site''s Integrated Management system, specifically systems such as ISO9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 • Promote continuous improvement of the Integrated Management systems and processes • Provide technical support and coaching to SHERQ team and customers • Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures related to incidents, non-conformance and audit findings Human Capital: • Ensure effective talent management and development • Ensure that all individuals are assessed and development plans are in place in accordance with their profiles • Build organisational structures making use of specialists as well as multiskilled individuals. • Ensure the SHERQ function is fully integrated into all relevant organisational structures. • Ensure effective succession planning to maintain sustainability of the SHERQ function. Emergency Management: • Plan, manage and control the site emergency services to ensure maximum protection to property and people • Design the emergency management systems to mitigate the risks as identified in the MHI and Baseline risk registers • Ensure that the emergency management systems are adequately resourced to perform required function Financial Management: • Draft budget for cost centre, based on planned projects and deliverables, to ensure proper financing of the function • Adhere to procurement practices
