STEEL BUYER – GERMISTON (4197)

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading Steel distributor is looking for a steel buyer to join their team

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in related field will be an advantage
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in buying within the steel industry
• Strong knowledge of steel materials, grades, specifications, and production processes
• Microsoft Office packages especially Excel (Intermediate-Advanced)
• Syspro and Q-Docs would be advantageous
• Math skills to make sure all calculations are correct
• Negotiation skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Placing of mill orders
• Handling internal sales and buying enquiries
• Planning loads with mills and warehouse for collection and delivery
• Purchase order maintenance
• Updating admin spreadsheets
• Follow up with buying team on open purchase orders weekly
• Follow up with sales team on open sales orders weekly
• Sumit mill claims and follow up
• Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis
• Dealing with High Volume customers
