Safety Health and Environmental Specialist

SUMMARY:
A large agricultural manufacturer is seeking an experienced Safety, Health Environment & Risk Specialist to deploy, manage and optimise Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainable Development policies and programs at the various sites of the company

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Sciences, or similar field
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environmental- / Risk management is required
• Good knowledge of local regulations is required and experience as a Health and Safety auditor will be beneficial
• Must be a process-driven self-starter, with good influencing and interpersonal skills
• Must be fluent in English whilst an understanding of other local languages will be beneficial
• Must have a valid South African Drivers Licence and be willing to travel between sites

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Ensuring compliance in environment, health and safety and continuous improvement activities.
• Guaranteeing the respect of the standards through reporting and internal audits.
• Defining and following SHER KPIs and reporting to the Managing Director.
• In close collaboration with the management committee and especially the HR Manager, defining and following-up on improvement actions plan to reach risk management, safety and environmental objectives on dedicated and third-party sites.
• Organising and implementing local risk management, safety and environmental awareness-actions for employees and managers.
• Leading the actions of sustainable development and the continuous improvement of the company’s processes.
• In line with company’s Ethics & Anti Bribery policies, developing local policies, standards and managers’ awareness.
• Maintaining and supporting documentation and records.
