Safety Officer

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Mining Industry, has an EE opportunity available for a Safety Officer in the Matla area. This will be a contract position for 12 months.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements

• N Dip: Safety Management ( Essential/Minimum )
• Certificate First Line Management ( Essential/Minimum )
• B Tech (Relevant) ( Recommended/Desirable )
• 3-5 years experience in safety operations within a heavy industry, mining and production environment - essential
• MHS Act Reg 2.17.1 (Safety Officer) - essential

 KPA’s

• Manage risk by assessing liabilities, reporting and monitoring standards and attending to problems
• Conduct internal and external safety and environmental audits
• Compile statistical and legal monthly reports
• Customer and Client Relationship Management
• Effective contractor management in terms of quality assurance
• Facilitate and monitor compliance in terms of training requirements
• Provide an expert advisory service to line and Head, SHE and present statistical findings and performance
• Chair relevant SHE Rep meetings, when required
• Conduct inspections as per legislation
• Provide specialist safety training and support, as per legislative
  requirements
