Sales Executive - SHIPPING

Minimum requirements:

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Liaison with agents & third-party service providers regarding both air & sea forwarding rates to support the sales & ops function
Prepare sales proposals & estimates in order to gain and retain business
Communicate sales proposal info internally & to agents along with any specific instructions that might apply
Service & retain business developed by yourself, as well as in-house accounts

SPECIFIC TASKS
Develop new business

• Follow up on any sales leads generated by overseas agents & from within PFP.
• Develop own sales leads to follow up in order to gain new business
• Communicate feedback on sales leads both internally & back to the source
• Monitor first shipments until the new business can be successfully handed over to operations staff
• Obtain Routing Orders/Routing Instructions & communicate info & instructions internally & to agents

Meeting Sales Targets

• The main target is to achieve an overall monthly GP equivalent to 2.5 times the cost to the company. Cost to the company will be calculated as Salary, Company Contributions to Medical Aid/Pension, Petrol, and Cell phone costs.

Liaison with agents

• Obtain rates from overseas agents to support proposals and quotes
• Obtain rates from third-party service providers, i.e. insurance, trucking, crating, fumigation, etc

Preparation of Sales Proposals

• After obtaining rates, prepare individual sales proposals in order to gain new business
• Do estimates for air/ocean on both imports & exports in order to gain new business or retain existing business

Communicate sales proposal info both internally and to agents

• Sales staff must also communicate internally the following info to all operational & accounting staff

Imports
➢ Shipper's details & agents' details at the point of origin
➢ Applicable rates at origin for FOB charges and freight to SA, detailing point of discharge
➢ All SA clearance & delivery charges
➢ Details of consignee including key operations person/accounting person
➢ Consignee VAT Details/Importers code
➢ HS Codes to be applied
➢ Delivery Address for cargo/supporting docs
➢ Insurance requirements
➢ Specific handling/delivery instructions
➢ Any other relevant info applicable

Exports
➢ Shipper's details & destination agents' details
➢ Applicable FOB rates and freight charges from SA, indicating carrier/routing, etc
➢ Any destination DDU/DDP charges that might be applicable
➢ Details of shipper including key operation person/accounting person
➢ Shippers exporters code
➢ HS Codes to be applied
➢ Collection address for cargo & delivery address & contact for delivery of invoice and supporting docs
➢ Insurance requirements
➢ Specific handling/delivery for documentary instructions
➢ Any other relevant info applicable
➢ Similar details must also be communicated to agent at origin on imports, or destination agents where applicable on export traffic
