SUMMARY:
The Sculler is responsible for clearing and cleaning tables, returning cutlery and crockery to the kitchen, and supporting the wait staff to ensure efficient service. The role helps maintain cleanliness and order in the dining area while contributing to a smooth guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
Table Clearing & Cleaning

Clear tables promptly after guests finish their meals.
Collect cutlery, plates, glasses, and other tableware and return them to the kitchen or designated area.
Clean and reset tables for the next service.
Ensure table presentation and readiness for incoming guests.

Support to Service Staff

Assist waiters and bartenders during service.
Replenish condiments, napkins, and other table items as required.
Help transport food and drinks from the kitchen to service areas when needed.

Hygiene & Safety

Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, side stations, and passageways.
Follow hygiene standards, including proper handling of dishes, cutlery, and glassware.
Report any damaged or broken equipment to the supervisor.
Comply with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.

Stock & Inventory Assistance

Assist with restocking side stations and service areas.
Monitor the availability of plates, cutlery, glasses, and other dining equipment.
Inform supervisors of shortages or requirements.

Teamwork & Professionalism

Work collaboratively with wait staff, kitchen staff, and supervisors.
Maintain a professional, courteous, and approachable attitude.
Follow instructions and assist wherever necessary during busy periods.

POSITION INFO:
Qualifications

Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
Basic food hygiene knowledge advantageous.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or banquet environment is beneficial but not essential.
Familiarity with table service and dining etiquette is an advantage.

Technical Skills

Knowledge of table clearing procedures and side station organisation.
Ability to handle cutlery, crockery, and glassware safely.
Basic understanding of hygiene and food safety standards.
