JOB DESCRIPTION:

The SA Metal Group currently has a vacancy for a committed, hands-on, attentive to detail, dedicated individual to join the Fitters team.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Providing support to the department and Artisans with routine and preventative maintenance
Providing support and assistance with repairs on various equipment and machines
Assist in mechanical assembly
Assist with tools and lubrication of machinery
Demonstrate basic mechanical knowledge
Housekeeping of the workshop and various work areas
Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Other adhoc duties as assign by the Department Supervisor, Team Leader or Engineering Manager

Qualifying Experience:

Grade 12 or equivalent
Minimum of N3 or proven interest in obtaining trade test qualification in Fitting
Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience within the engineering or metal industry
Knowledge and use of power tools
Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit)
Good hand-eye coordination
Hands on practical approach to the job
Safety awareneness and consciousness
Ability to work under challenging conditions
Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights
Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English)
Computer literate
Must be prepared to work weekends and overtime when required
