POSITION INFO:
Position: Semi Skilled Mechanic – Construction
Location: Port Elizabeth
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Semi Skilled Mechanic within the Construction / Plant Hire industry
- Valid drivers’ license
- Ability to train others to use, repair, and maintain various machines
- Good record keeping skills
Responsibilities:
- Conducting all mechanical work and repairs to equipment such as generators, grinders, concrete mixers, etc.
- Scheduling and executing planned maintenance for the small plant to minimize downtime.
- Continuously improving operations by reducing costs, maintaining housekeeping, and managing inventory.
- Managing the SHEQ of the small plant division
- Coordinating the calibration of survey, measuring, and lifting equipment
- Managing the stores and all related functions, including sourcing spare supplies and parts, liaising with buyers for procurement, and dealing with mechanical suppliers
- Conducting preventative maintenance to prolong the life of machines and equipment.
- Preparing job cards for each repair and preparing monthly damage reports
- Planning maintenance/servicing schedules
- Coaching and training staff and supervising their work at all times.
- Conducting site staff training
