Overview

An established and growth-oriented organisation in the medical devices sector is seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting functions and lead month-end reporting processes. The role involves managing a small finance team and driving operational accuracy across compliance, reporting, and general ledger responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full month-end close process, ensuring accuracy across reconciliations and journal entries.
• Oversee financial reporting and analysis, including variance, ratio, and risk assessments.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, supporting their development and daily outputs.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting systems, and procedures.
• Support audit preparations (internal and external) and statutory compliance processes.
• Collaborate with the Financial Manager on budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements.
• Manage tax submissions, returns, and compliance via SARS e-filing.
• Contribute to business process documentation and quality management system (QMS) adherence.

Minimum Requirements

• Education (Essential): B.Com Accounting or related financial degree
• Preferred: Honours in Accounting or SAICA registration
• Experience: 3–7 years post-articles, preferably with experience in commercial environments
• Desirable: Articles completed at an accounting firm

Skills and Competencies

• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Pastel or Xero)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Thorough knowledge of statutory compliance and tax regulations
• Proven experience managing month-end procedures and financial reconciliations
• Ability to lead and develop a finance team
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organisational abilities
