Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha Financial Accountant

Take ownership of a high-impact finance function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned Senior Financial Accountant who enjoys being operationally involved, driving process improvement, managing reporting deadlines, and partnering closely with leadership to support business performance.
You will step into a pivotal “right-hand” role to the Finance Manager, taking responsibility for the day-to-day finance operations while leading a finance team and ensuring strong financial controls across the business. The environment requires someone who is technically strong, commercially aware, highly organised, and comfortable operating under pressure within a manufacturing and foreign-currency-driven environment.

POSITION INFO:
This role offers exposure to operational finance, treasury, foreign exchange, fixed assets, audits, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and leadership within an established business that values structure, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage month-end and year-end finance processes, reporting, journals, and reconciliations
Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting
Lead internal audits, risk management initiatives, and cost-saving strategies
Manage VAT submissions, SARB applications, foreign currency transactions, and treasury-related functions
Oversee the fixed asset function, including registers, controls, and compliance
Review supplier reconciliations, bank reconciliations, petty cash, and payment planning
Supervise and develop a finance team of 5 staff members
Act as Sage 200 Evolution Super User and support internal ERP-related finance queries
Drive process improvements, efficiencies, and operational finance support across the business
Lead the annual financial audit process

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Qualifications:

Matric
BCom Accounting / BCompt Accounting Sciences / CIMA / ACCA

Experience:

12–15 years’ experience within a similar Senior Financial Accounting role
Strong exposure to foreign currency transactions and foreign exchange processes
Manufacturing or production industry experience advantageous
Previous team management experience essential
Strong operational finance and reporting background

Systems Experience:

Sage 200 Evolution Version 10 (Pastel) – non-negotiable
Xperdyte Manufacturing System advantageous
AssetZure advantageous
Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Lookups, and Macros

Key Competencies:

Strong attention to detail and reconciliation ability
Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving capability
Highly organised with excellent planning and time management skills
Strong communication and leadership ability
Commercial mindset with a proactive, solutions-driven approach
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
