Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the Senior Accountant: non-RSA Consolidation & Reporting role is to provide oversight in the process of delivering accurate and timeous consolidated financial statutory reporting across all non-RSA entities and subsidiaries. This role is integral to the finance team to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements and variations across the non-RSA entities and subsidiaries.

The role seeks to lead and enhance the financial statutory compliance and reporting templates across non-RSA entities, and align with Group guidelines to improve consistency, compliance and mitigate financial reporting risks. The portfolio leverages specialised financial statutory reporting knowledge across non-RSA borders, business entities and financial systems, working closely with cross-border and cross functional business stakeholders, facilitating, co-creating, and implementing sustainable financial inputs, corrections, and improvements.

Job Objectives

• Leading on the consolidation process of the financial and statutory reporting of all non-RSA entities and related subsidiaries (including compliance leadership with diverse country specific accounting principles and technical financial application – acting as a knowledge source of accounting integrity confirmation).
• Managing the complete non-RSA financial and statutory reporting and consolidation process – application of templates, adherence, and compliance thereto.
• Managing timelines and deliverables in conjunction with the Group finance planning calendar.
• Preparing inputs for quarterly and annual consolidated financial reporting including all notes – as aligned to the Group Reporting requirements. Taking ownership of overall pre-submission quality assurance.
• Ensuring a consistent application of accounting policies across responsible entities and compliance to IFRS and other country specific statutory and regulatory financial processing and reporting requirements.
• Overseeing and driving the Impairment process and revision of applied numbers etc.
• Working in conjunction with the Tax function to ensure that reasonable checks are undertaken for final application on Income Statement.
• Understanding and applying the sensitivity analysis per market for the applicable financial requirements – such as currency exposure, interest, credit, market, and liquidity risk.
• Clearly articulating and reconciling differences between non-RSA reporting results and the statutory financial statements.
• Leading the team in the application of foreign currency translations, discontinued operations and hyperinflation calculations.
• Working closely with other teams to ensure that the audit adjustments of the prior years are accurately accounted for and supporting any group reporting changes in accordance with the Group Reporting guidelines.
• Effectively working as a team with relevant non-RSA finance team’s and reconciliation specialists – ensuring a strong understanding of the reporting standardisation requirements across entities and jointly conducting ongoing research of new IFRS or other country specific requirements.
• Effectively communicating to all stakeholders, the timelines, deliverables, and open communication channels to ensure that potential delivery risks are timeously escalated.
• Building capacity – balancing the ‘doing’ and allocation of tasks, ensuring that the deliver on quality and on time.

REQUIREMENTS

• Qualified Chartered Accountant: CA(SA) - (essential).
• A minimum of 5+ years relevant post qualification experience in a financial reporting role with proven exposure to interpreting and reporting on key financial information and providing assurance in applying financial accounting principles and statutory requirements in diverse contexts (i.e., multi country / sectors etc.) or similar role - (essential).
• Previous exposure to managing a team within the financial reporting context - (essential).
• Must have knowledge of advanced accounting principles and financial reports as well as systems – including IFRS (essential).
• Exposure to the finance and/or statutory and financial reporting processes in other African countries and markets – (advantageous).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel - intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel - (essential).
• Exposure to SAP / BPC - (preferred).
