Senior Advisor: Built Environment and Planning

Our client has an opportunity available for a Senior Advisor in the Built Environment and Planning department based in the Free State.

Requirements:

• High degree of Technical Project Management knowledge preferably in and economic development environment.
• Postgraduate qualification at honours level.
• Registered Professional Planner.
• 6+ years’ experience in Development Planning.
• Understanding of Municipal Planning in relation to Land Use management, Spatial planning and IDPs.
• Own vehicle and driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

• Identify Best Practice in relation to Infrastructure development, Human Settlements, Roads and Transport, Climate Change, resilience and IDP processes.
• Be a key knowledge and information advisor on local governments and matters relating to the area of specialisation.
• Conduct analysis on municipalities and provide guidance in respect of possible improvements.
• Assist municipalities with issues of legislative compliance and interpretation.
• Facilitate training programmes, peer learning sessions in the areas of focus or professional discipline.
• Support the development and Implement monitoring and evaluation processes to track the progress on implementation of policies and legislative compliance.
• Ensure that all project records are uploaded into the company knowledge management system.
• Implement appropriate project management methodologies and disciplines.
• Build and maintain relevant stakeholder relationships in the area of responsibility.
• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and monitoring of the monthly expenditure in area of accountability.
• Uphold sound corporate governance principles in the daily operation of the area of professional discipline.
