SUMMARY:
A highly regarded organization is seeking an experienced Avionics Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team in Somerset West.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the design and development of multiple aerospace projects, applying a tailored systems engineering approach.
- Prepare Statements of Work for contracted electronic design engineers, outlining the design, manufacture, and delivery of avionics subsystems based on technical requirements specifications.
- Organize and oversee design reviews of avionics subsystems.
- Supervise the creation of mission firmware design specifications by developers, for use in specified avionics subsystems.
- Develop functional requirement specifications for in-house developed avionics subsystems.
- Prepare functional specifications for electronic test bench appliances and Windows-based test applications used to verify avionics subsystems.
- Manage the design and development of test bench appliances and Windows-based test applications by electronic engineers and software developers.
- Commission test bench appliances and test applications.
- Develop subsystem test procedures for the acceptance of avionics subsystems using electronic test appliances and software.
- Conduct verification testing of subsystems against test requirements using test appliances and applications.
- Participate in integrated system verification testing, with a focus on avionics subsystem performance.
- Oversee configuration control of avionics hardware and firmware, including firmware version numbers, hardware modifications, and serial numbers.
- Provide ongoing guidance to avionics engineers and firmware developers throughout the project lifecycle.
Overseas travel to client sites may be required on occasion.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a B.Eng degree in Electronics Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in the military and/or commercial sectors, applying systems engineering principles and methodologies.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- M.Eng degree in Electronics Engineering.
- Familiarity with GENESYS systems engineering modelling platform (SDL-based).
- Experience with managing DO-160G environmental testing (EMI, EMC, vibration, shock, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in electronics prototyping, including C firmware coding (STM32).
