Senior Bookkeeper

A steel processing company in the South of Johannesburg (Devland area) is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper with relevant experience for their operations

Responsibilities

• Responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping and selected financial accounting functions
• Monitoring of the cashflow and funds coming into the company
• Processing of foreign transfers
• Exporting and uploading of bank statements into Pastel for reconciliation
• Reconciliation of Bank statements
• Perform intergroup transfers
• Update monthly debit orders
• Responsible for the accurate uploading of all payments
• Ensure COD and Account suppliers are paid timeously
• Ensure the correct allocation of expenses
• Upload payments to the bank
• Perform Full Creditors function on selected suppliers/companies and reconcile as required
• Responsible for full control of the cheque book and banking of cheques received
• Request SWIFT for foreign payments
• Reconcile foreign currency account receipts in conjunction with excel spreadsheet
• Upload of current account transactions
• Maintain, control and review petty cash
• Reconcile current bank account
• VAT 201 submission and VAT maintenance
• Monthly salaries and import journal into Pastel
• Filing of all respective supporting documentation and electronic files
• Liaising with internal and external auditors
• Ensure all journals are signed off
• Review of Supplier age analysis at month end
• Prepare a reconciliation of all Credit Cards and monthly sign off
• All expenses to be posted through a supplier account on Pastel

Requirements

• Grade 12/Matric

• Relevant Accounting certificate/diploma (BCom would be beneficial)
• MUST have +5 years relevant bookkeeping experience
• MUST have +5 years Pastel Partner experience
• Good knowledge of IFRS, GAAP
• In depth experience/knowledge with VAT
• Advanced computer literacy MS Office and MS Excel
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Salary is dependent on experience, qualification and relevant skill set
