Our client around Gauteng in the Telecom industry is looking for a Senior Business Analyst for a contract role.
POSITION INFO:
Analysis and Solution Design
· Provide support to business capability and strategy planning, collaborate with business stakeholders to Identify, crystallise and define the real business needs
· Articulate business goals and objectives and determine solution scope
· Partner with business, IS and Enterprise stakeholders on assessment of new projects
· Assist business and IS to define business capabilities, features and scope of program initiation
· Deliver business analysis activities and outputs across all of the business analysis knowledge areas Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, Elicitation and Collaboration, Requirements Life Cycle Management, Strategy Analysis, Requirements Analysis and Design Definition, and Solution Evaluation
· Projects are of high risk or high business priority, have a large number of stakeholders including senior/executive management, multi-year in nature/long cycle, require a high level of solution complexity or involve complex processes, have a high level of critical information/high value of information, are cross-functional and have unclear business problems
· Partner with business, interacting independently to define future business requirements, identify opportunities for optimisation, and develop and propose solutions based on an understanding of the broader business context and the various architecture domains
· Determine a set of approaches for business analysis, considering financial justification, global trends and strategic alignment
· Select the appropriate approach to business analysis activities and prepare a plan to support execution
· Lead the analysis/solution life-cycle, including identification of business needs/requirements, identification and assessment, elaboration of solutions, feasibility assessment and business case development; functional specification and translation into a working solution; acceptance testing, management of change requirements and provide training input.
· Lead JAD facilitation sessions with stakeholders to understand their needs, analyse and elicit requirements
· Employ design thinking and agile techniques e.g. user stories to specify and document requirements as a brief statement about what users need
· Lead white-boarding sessions with project stakeholders to develop detailed customer journey, create mock-up screens
· Prioritise business requirements and Ensure stakeholders understanding and acceptance of prioritization decisions
· Regularly monitor the impact of changes to requirements and designs, and use historical data to evaluate the potential impact to current proposed solution
· Facilitate requirements change impact resolution activities
· Support the architect to define, analyse and develop the business architecture, reference model, framework and implementation roadmaps to enable the strategy
· Give substantive input to linked disciplines (e.g. systems development, project and programme management, change management)
· Identifies business strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement.
· Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
· Develops functional specifications and system design specifications
· Provide guidance to BAs on delivery approach for approved projects
· Drive quality throughout BA community of practice
· Lead testing efforts, ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
· Works with business to identify required changes
· Communicates needed changes to development team
· Contribute towards continuous improvement of processes and templates
· Assists in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules
· Communicates and applies project standards
· Manages resources in accordance with project schedule
· Consistently delivers high-quality services to business stakeholders
Problem Solving / Solution Design
· Design and document business solutions (process, system and measurements) that meet current and future requirements
· Review and re-engineer processes within the assigned part of the value stream in order to meet the required service levels – aligned with Business Architecture guidelines and methodologies
· Define and construct context diagrams which form part of the basis of process mapping
· Assist in drafting policies, processes and procedures
· Evaluate situations and determine the best methods to reach defined outcomes
· Address problems on a case by case basis, ensuring an optimal balance between the response to the situation, the cost of that response, and the core purpose of the organisation
· Follow clear and linear procedures to diagnose and solve problems that are not always obvious
· Provide information and knowledge as required to resolve problems
· Generate different options for the known problem, evaluate possible methods to resolve the problem, and select the most appropriate solution in terms of enhanced effectiveness and efficiency, and reduced cost
· Tailor solutions to suit the problem (within defined parameters)
· Make use of available resources to solve the problem
· Identify external parties to assist with problem solving as required
· Understand and document existing and new business processes and requirements
· Ensure traceability of requirements from business through to development and implementation
· Identify and prepare relevant information and data for reporting purposes
· Include recommendations on how to implement suggested procedural improvements
· Make assessments of and draw solutions from qualitative data. Make logical deductions and draw conclusions that can be motivated
· Document all relevant information from business analysis streams, according to Programme Office guidelines and methodologies
Education & Training requirements
· Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in relevant discipline
· Diploma in Business Analysis
· Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent aligned to BABOK
· Certification in Design Thinking and Requirements Facilitation
· Minimum of 7 years’ experience
· Minimum 7 years'' business analysis in solution development lifecycle projects/programmes using BABOK methodology
· Working in software or systems development
· Supervising project teams
· Working in a medium to large organization
