The overall purpose of the Senior Buyer (Commodities) is to play a pivotal role in the procurement

POSITION INFO:

The overall purpose of the Senior Buyer (Commodities) is to play a pivotal role in the procurement of Commodities such as Coal, Lime, Fuel, Raw Materials and Chemicals.

ï‚§ Responsible for the transactional procurement of goods and/or services as guided by the respective category strategy and business requirements.

ï‚§ The role includes buying against a contract and/or supporting sourcing processes.

ï‚§ The role will assist with all administrative requirements, contract administration and supplier communication for the category.

ï‚§ This role is responsible for ensuring availability of quality raw materials and chemicals and the provision of reliable commodity information to the business on demand.

Key Responsibilites

ï‚§ Procurement of strategic commodities : Coal, Lime, Salt, Agric Chemicals, Fuel, Import Chemicals, Voermol Raw Materials, and Chemicals

ï‚§ Full Management of the procurement-to-pay process for the portfolio.

ï‚§ Convene and Attend Commodity Pricing and Management Meetings

ï‚§ Preparation of commodity monthly price forecasts.

ï‚§ Resolve Payment Queries where required

ï‚§ Reduction of working capital exposure

ï‚§ Supplier Performance Management

ï‚§ Ensure compliance with Treasury/Finance and legislative requirements regarding all foreign procurement

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

ï‚§ Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement or equivalent experience

ï‚§ High stress tolerance and excellent time management skills

ï‚§ 4 Years Procurement with commodities

ï‚§ Stakeholder engagements.

ï‚§ In-depth product knowledge for TH commodities such as Cotton Oil Cake, CMS, Molasses, DBG, Soya etc

ï‚§ Planning, Scheduling & Crisis Management

ï‚§ SAP Materials Management (MM) module

ï‚§ Supply Contracts

ï‚§ Tenders and Forecasting

ï‚§ Supplier Negotiations

ï‚§ Strong planning, negotiation, and implementation skills

ï‚§ Ability to conduct market-related research to keep abreast of commodity pricing and monitor product availability

ï‚§ Full understanding of TH Vendor management requirements and governance

ï‚§ Sound understanding of import procedures and all related documentation
