Senior Buyer (FMCG)

SUMMARY:
National retailer seeks an experienced Buyer, specializing in childcare products and able to handle a large supplier base (50+) within the FMCG space.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain or equivalent qualification is essential
• Toddler focused buying
• Min 5 years’ experience in Procurement within FMCG Industry (market knowledge essential)
• Excellent and effective negotiating skills.
• Good communication, interpersonal, influencing skills and a deal-maker.
• Ability to get the best possible pricing
• Computer literate - Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforms
• Impeccable attention to detail.
• Analytical, numerically astute, with strong problem-solving abilities
• Integrity - Shows moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings.

• Maintaining the highest levels of Quality
• Category Strategy Development and Competitor Analysis
• Partner with key strategic suppliers to develop 3–5-year plans
• Financial Analysis, Pricing, OTB Planning
• Manage gross profit, sales aged stock and stock turn, of the category portfolio
• Engage with the Planning Department to manage current and future OTB status
• Analyse sales data to identify and sure product sustainability of key performance drivers and execute sales opportunities
• Collaborate with the Planner on managing aged-stock and poor sellers in line with category stock turn expectations and recommend exit strategies (markdowns, uplifts, promotions, etc)
