Senior Buyer (Pet Retail Industry)

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain or equivalent qualification is essential
• Pets, Pet care, Pet Category or Pet’s Nutrition a non-negotiable
• Min 5 years experience in Procurement within the Pet Retail Industry (market knowledge essential)
• Excellent and effective negotiating skills.
• Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal, influencing skills and a deal-maker.
• Ability to get the best possible pricing
• Computer literate - Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word, and industry-standard purchase order software platforms
• impeccable attention to detail.
• Analytical, numerically astute, with strong problem-solving abilities
• Integrity - Shows moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Maintaining the highest levels of Quality
• Category Strategy Development and Competitor Analysis
• Partner with key strategic suppliers to develop 3–5-year plans
• Financial Analysis, Pricing, OTB Planning
• Manage gross profit, sales aged stock and stock turn, of the category portfolio
• Engage with the Planning Department to manage current and future OTB status
• Analyse sales data to identify and sure product sustainability of key performance drivers and execute sales opportunities
• Collaborate with the Planner on managing aged-stock and poor sellers in line with category stock turn expectations and recommend exit strategies (markdowns, uplifts, promotions, etc)
• Building Assortments and Ranges
• SKU / Product / System Management
• Quality Control
• Marketing/Advertising and Promotions
• Supplier Management / Negotiation
• Leadership / Talent Enhancement & Training
• Cross-Functional Partnerships by cultivating networks across divisions and functions to improve business processes for example: Shipping, Finance, Marketing, Warehouse, Operations, HR, Store Design, Property, etc
