SUMMARY:

Senior Civil / Structural Engineer for the Mining Division

POSITION INFO:

Main Purpose of Job:

• Lead major and minor projects in the Civil or Structural Engineering function and/or support Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer in managing professional Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Responsible for the progress and quality of assigned tasks within the Civil or Structural Engineering discipline, including the supervision of Civil or Structural Engineers and Junior Engineers.
• To carry out all Civil or Structural engineering and design work in accordance with agreed codes and practices that meets all requirements of the contract. Also, to ensure all work is carried out within agreed schedules, budgets and procedures in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

• Technical Expertise - Supervision and guidance of teams of civil or structural engineers involved on projects.
• Project Execution and Proposal Development - Lead Civil or Structural Engineering activities on minor and miscellaneous projects and/or providing expert level technical knowledge and guidance in all phases of projects (conceptual engineering, pre-feasibility engineering [FEL2], basic engineering [FEL3] and detailed engineering design).
• Support the Discipline Manager Civil Structural Engineering and/or Specialist Principal Civil or Structural Engineer/s to establish the scope of work for projects or proposals.
• Technical Stewardship and SEAL Compliance - Ensure compliance with the Worley Technical Stewardship Standard, specified engineering codes, standards, procedures, quality plans and Worley policies and procedures.
• Financial Management - Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives, including the determination of relative costs of alternative design concepts and establishment of preferred concepts.
• Staff Management and Performance - Manage direct reports workload and key deliverables in line with project deadline requirements, scope and Worley procedures.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Skills/ Competencies:
• Good technical knowledge in specialist fields.
• Good understanding National, industry codes and standards and client specifications.
• Good knowledge of engineering software/applications.

• Minimum BSc, BTech, HND or MSc in related field or applicable discipline, typically a Civil or Structural Engineering degree or equivalent experience if allowed by law.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA
• Minimum 12+ years (HND) or 10+ years (BSc/BTech) or 7+ years (MSc) of post qualification experience.
