Senior Construction Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client specializes in project support for the (petro)chemical and maritime industries. They provide personnel in the areas of Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Maintenance, and Safety. They are seeking a Senior Construction Engineer to join their team in the Netherlands.

Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in construction engineering or management, preferably on large-scale or complex projects.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, methods, and legal regulations in the Netherlands and Europe.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
• Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle unforeseen challenges in a practical, solution-oriented manner.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of managing and motivating cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise construction projects from initial design through to completion, ensuring all technical aspects are adhered to.
• Develop project specifications, budgets, timelines, and schedules, managing resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Conduct site assessments, inspections, and surveys to identify potential construction challenges, recommending solutions to mitigate risks.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, quality standards, and Dutch and international construction codes.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to align on project goals and requirements.
• Oversee procurement of materials and equipment, working closely with vendors to ensure timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
