Senior Corporate Affairs Manager
POSITION INFO:
Introduction
Our client with a strategic and commercial imperative to achieve the business objectives. A key imperative for the organisation remains the safe, sustainable and efficient delivery of its major capital investment in transitioning its Mine from an open pit to a modern, technologically enabled underground operation.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to effectively execute and implement the overall Corporate Affairs strategy for mine through the implementation of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan, social performance strategy, communication plan and enterprise & supplier development strategy that create an integrated environment with mine employees, host communities and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic advice on the implementation of Group Corporate Affairs Strategy at the Mine, with focus on the following:
Communication
ï‚· Develops and manages the execution of the internal and external communication strategy at the Mine by working closely with the Corporate Communication Senior Manager
ï‚· Ensures that the corporate identity and positive image of the Group is presented effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
ï‚· Drive ‘best practice’ for communication, ensuring clarity of processes, developing and maintaining the necessary approval procedures across at the mine.
ï‚· Develop a Crisis Communication Plan in support of the mine’s Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans.
Social Performance
ï‚· Lead development of Venetia Mine’s component of the Group Social Performance Strategy
ï‚· Oversee the implementation of the Social Way 3.0 at Venetia Mine
ï‚· Work with the OpCo team to unlock bottlenecks and mitigate risks that may hinder the delivery of the Social Way 3.0 plan
Socio Economic Development
ï‚· Ensure socio-economic development initiatives (Building Forever, SLP, SED, CSR, E&SD) are aligned to maximise benefit to host communities
ï‚· Engage and secure the support of the contractor partners in the delivery of socio-economic development initiatives within host communities
ï‚· Establish strategic partnership with other business units on SED initiatives within the Limpopo region
ï‚· Leverage initiatives and partnership opportunities that exist at a Provincial level for the benefit of host communities
Building Forever
ï‚· Managed the Development and implementation of the Building Forever Plan
ï‚· Ensure the involvement of on-mine and group wide internal stakeholders in the development and implementation of the Building Forever Plan
ï‚· Ensure that monitoring and evaluation has visibility at mine OpCo level
ï‚· Work with the OpCo team to unlock bottlenecks and mitigate risks that may hinder the delivery of the Building Forever plan
Stakeholder Management and Partnerships
ï‚· Provide strategic advice on the implementation of Stakeholder Relations strategy, policies and plans by ensuring alignment with South African legislation and Group policies.
ï‚· Establish relationships with Provincial, Regional and Municipal government stakeholders.
ï‚· Identify and secure strategic partners that will enable Venetia Mine to achieve its business and socio-economic development strategies
ï‚· Evaluate impact of engagement strategies and tactics; provide feedback to OpCo team.
ï‚· Create mutually beneficial relationships with local, regional and provincial governments, traditional leadership, political parties and influential community leaders.
ï‚· Monitor and ensure delivery of commitments in the regional and local areas.
ï‚· Gather company feedback from key stakeholders and their attitude towards the company/mine and issues with the company/mine.
Regulation
ï‚· Collaborate with the Transformation Manager to keep abreast of regulatory and legislative developments relevant for the mine.
ï‚· Manage compliance for Venetia Mine with focus on the following:
o Social and Labour Plan
o Mining Charter
o Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment
o Minimum Permitting Requirements
Health, Safety and Environment
ï‚· Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety and environmental standards and with the Group’s values
ï‚· Adhere to the health, safety and environmental expectations for the Corporate Affairs team ensuring your behaviour meets the required standards
People / Team:

Minimum experience & qualifications required
ï‚· Social science degree or development studies related degree such as development planning
ï‚· A business management qualification would be an advantage
ï‚· Minimum 10 years management experience of which at least 5 should be in the extractive environment
ï‚· Working with SA government and traditional communities (advantage)
ï‚· Project management
ï‚· Policy development and program implementation with national footprint.
ï‚· Monitoring and Evaluation of large scale programs and project’s
ï‚· Social impact assessment
ï‚· Working with complex community structures
ï‚· Relevant experience in working in social performance management
ï‚· Proven track record of dealing with internal stakeholders at senior & departmental level
ï‚· Knowledge of the Risk management process (ORM)
ï‚· Knowledge of the SEAT Process
ï‚· Knowledge of the Social Way framework
ï‚· Operational knowledge
ï‚· Knowledge of social performance policies and procedures
