SUMMARY:
Senior Environmental Advisor Required in DRC

POSITION INFO:

Senior Environmental Advisor Required in DRC for a contract position

Roster: Monday – Friday

Key Accountabilities

Management of local DRC and international consultants and contractors over multiple varied projects and locations.
Collection, analysis, and interpretation of data.
Provide environmental approvals advice including approvals strategies, project management, and management of environmental studies for approvals purposes.
Communication of Fortescue’s environmental approvals internally.
Proficiency in French and English.
Ability to visit project sites in remote areas.
Facilitating communications between engineers/ technical staff and consultants.
Liaise with DRC authorities regarding environmental assessment and permitting processes.
Monitoring of compliance with approval or permit obligations
Incident investigation and corrective actions

Qualifications and Skills

A Tertiary Degree in Environmental Science, or equivalent (Post Graduate qualifications will also be well regarded).
Knowledge of environmental management and impact mitigation options relevant to energy generation, linear infrastructure, and industrial processes.
Advanced reporting writing, research, interpersonal, and communications skills.
A strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite software applications.
Experience in similar roles.

Desirable

6 to 10 years of experience in an environmental role within the energy industry or an associated Government Department.
Experience in the use of GIS software
Knowledge and understanding of the DRC environmental approvals.
Experience with social impact assessment highly regarded.
Marine, Riparian, and Riverine experience highly regarded.
