Senior Estimator (Africa Operations) - Kempton Park\/Johannesburg - Market Related We are seeking a highly analytical Senior Estimator with strong commercial acumen to join a dynamic Africa Operations team. Based in, this permanent role is critical to supporting business growth through the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially sound cost estimates for large-scale construction and engineering projects across the African continent. The Role The Senior Estimator will work closely with Regional Managing Directors and multi-disciplinary teams (Engineering, Procurement, and Operations) to ensure tenders are strategically priced and aligned with profitability and governance requirements. Key Responsibilities include: Preparing accurate cost models including labor, materials, plant, and indirect costs. Analyzing tender documentation, technical drawings, and specifications. Identifying commercial, technical, and operational risks early in the tender stage. Evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure market competitiveness. Supporting value engineering initiatives to enhance project profitability. Participating in tender clarification meetings and conducting periodic site inspections within Africa. Minimum Requirements To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria: Education: Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Estimating Experience: 5-8 years of estimating experience within construction, engineering, or infrastructure environments. Site Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on site experience in the construction industry. Project Scope: Proven track record in preparing estimates for large-scale construction or EPC projects. Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in CCS (Candy) , Buildsmart, and MS Excel. Contracts: Strong working knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC contract forms. Travel: Willingness and ability to travel within Africa as required. Knowledge & Skills Deep understanding of construction methodologies and detailed cost build-ups. Strong financial and numerical analytical skills. Ability to analyze historical cost data and market trends to build benchmarks. Excellent deadline management and organizational abilities. Knowledge of African project environments is highly advantageous.
