POSITION INFO:
This is not a role for a passive finance professional. It requires a technically strong, commercially aware Senior Finance Manager who can operate at executive level while still owning the detail. The position sits at the heart of Group Reporting and Distribution Channel management, demanding precision, strategic insight, and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.

The successful individual will not only manage reporting and compliance but will actively partner with the business, strengthen internal controls, and help mitigate risk across distribution channels. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives under pressure and understands that finance is both a control function and a strategic lever.

Duties:

• Preparation of monthly management reports and detailed variance analysis
• Presentation of financial reports to executive members
• Full Group reporting responsibilities
• Regulatory reporting for the Group
• Submission of income tax and VAT returns
• Management and oversight of internal controls
• Identification and mitigation of risks affecting distribution channels
• Preparation of budgets and forecasts
• Monthly processing and review of trial balances
• Review and preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Review of daily payments and detailed analysis of supporting schedules
• Preparation of ad hoc financial reports (including involvement in IFRS 17 implementation)
• Preparation of annual financial statements, including accounting policies and detailed notes
• Liaison with internal and external auditors
• Acting as a finance business partner to distribution channels
• Internal and external stakeholder management
• Team leadership and management

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Qualified CA(SA) or CTA with completed articles
• Strong IFRS technical knowledge
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Pastel experience advantageous
• Knowledge of the insurance industry advantageous

• Minimum 7 years’ post-articles experience
• Post-audit experience required
• Proven experience in Group reporting and regulatory reporting
• Exposure to IFRS implementation projects (IFRS 17 advantageous)
• Experience managing internal controls and working with auditors
• Demonstrated team management experience
