POSITION INFO:
Job Description:
Our client operates within the petrochemical industry and is known for its strong governance, safety-focused culture, and commitment to operational excellence. The organization offers a stable, structured environment where senior finance professionals play a key role in supporting business performance and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review full Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
- Manage and coordinate the external audit process
- Review monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs
- Maintain and oversee fixed asset registers, including plant, equipment, and capital projects
- Account for CAPEX, asset commissioning, and depreciation
- Manage VAT calculations, submissions, and reconciliations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Perform variance analysis and provide financial insights to operational stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, and internal control frameworks
- Support continuous improvement of financial processes and controls
- Mentor and review the work of junior finance team members

Skills:

Strong experience with ERP systems used in petrochemical, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills
Solid knowledge of IFRS, tax, VAT, and statutory compliance
Strong analytical ability with high attention to detail
Ability to operate effectively in a regulated, safety-critical, and operationally driven environment
Strong leadership and mentoring skills (if managing junior finance team members)
Ability to support continuous improvement of financial processes and controls

Minimum Qualifications:
BCom Accounting (essential). Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles (advantageous).

Experience:
Minimum 5 years (Post articles) (essential).
Experience within petrochemical, oil & gas, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments (essential).
Exposure to asset-intensive and CAPEX-heavy operations (highly beneficial).
