Senior Financial Accountant

SUMMARY:
A well-established property development company in East London is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to support its growing property portfolio. The role is responsible for financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit preparation, budgeting, and financial analysis across multiple entities within a property development environment.

This is an ideal opportunity for a deadline-driven, analytically strong finance professional with solid IFRS, CaseWare, and tax experience.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare underlying working papers for external audits
• Liaise directly with external auditors during audit processes
• Prepare annual, interim, and monthly financial statements and management accounts
• Manage financial statements audits and agreed audit engagements
• Conduct budget preparation and budget variance analysis
• Perform month-end and year-end close processes
• Organise, prepare, and review bookkeeping transactions
• Analyse and interpret accounting records in line with IFRS standards
• Gather, monitor, and report on financial data, including revenue, expenses, and liabilities
• Identify and report on accounting discrepancies
• Conduct financial risk analysis to support potential investments
• Analyse financial trends and performance indicators
• Support property development finance reporting and multi-entity structures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 6–7 years’ experience in a financial accounting role
• Proven experience in property development, real estate, or commercial finance (advantageous)
• IFRS statutory reporting experience (essential)
• Extensive CaseWare experience (essential)
• Tax experience (essential)
• Experience with budget preparation and financial analysis
• Sage ERP experience (advantageous)
• Experience with consolidations (advantageous)
• Additional professional certification (CPA / CA(SA)) (advantageous)
