Senior Financial Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client, a projects based marine construction company, currently seeks a Senior Financial Accountant, for their short-term contract.  You will work autonomously, having responsibility for ensuring the integrity, timeliness and efficiency of financial accounting, reporting and KPIs and controls.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

• Chartered Accountant (SA).
• Relevant experience in a Senior Finance or Accounting related role essential.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS applicable in this arena (IFRS19, 9, etc.).
• Management experience pref.
• Experience in construction/engineering type environment pref.

• Reconcile management accounts and balance sheets.
• Lead the Accountant to create clear objectives, coach, supervise, develop and provide technical assistance.
• Maintain integrity of the company’s ledgers through transaction approvals, regular reviews and monthly reconciliations.
• Assist in preparation of statutory accounts.
• Oversee/prepare VAT returns and other statutory reporting.
• Manage fixed asset reporting.
• Main contact point for External Auditors ensuring audits run smoothly.
• Overhead reporting across divisions.
• Gatekeeper of the Buildsmart Accounting software including general overview of accounting transactions, correction of any erroneous postings, closing of ledgers for periods.
• Monitor and control month-end reporting process to tight reporting deadlines.
• Complete other regular adhoc corporate requirements.
• Prepare provisional and annual corporate tax computations.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate internal controls, adherence to internal audit recommendations and keeping financial reporting documents documentation.

• Accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Timely and accurate reporting.
• Strong IT skills including experience in using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to multi-task in a busy working environment
• Able to prioritise work and ability to manage time in order to meet deadlines.
• Change implementation experience.
• Successful experience of managing people and teams.
