SUMMARY:

A leading player within the South African insurance sector is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Manager to drive financial excellence, governance, and strategic decision-making at group level.

POSITION INFO:

Our client is a well-established and reputable organisation operating within the insurance and financial services industry.

Reporting directly to the Finance Executive, the Senior Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full financial accounting function for a group of entities.

The role carries accountability for IFRS compliance, management and statutory reporting, governance and controls, tax compliance, and the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes. In addition, the incumbent will act as a key business partner to senior leadership, providing financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure full IFRS compliance, including accurate reporting of income, expenses, assets, and liabilities
Oversee the preparation, review, and timely delivery of management accounts, budgets, and financial reports
Manage tax compliance and statutory submissions in line with legislative requirements
Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, accounting policies, and internal controls
Drive process automation, system enhancements, and data integrity within the finance function
Provide strategic business partnering support to EXCO and senior stakeholders
Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing finance team

Job Experience and Skills Required

Education:

NQF Level 7 Finance qualification (CA(SA) or CIMA non-negotiable)

Experience:

5–8 years’ financial accounting experience within the insurance industry
Minimum of 3 years’ proven people management experience

Skills & Knowledge:

Strong understanding of the insurance and financial services environment
Sound working knowledge of IFRS, including IFRS 17
Advanced IT and financial systems capability
Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
