Senior Forester

SUMMARY:
Opportunity available!! Our well known client in the Forestry sector is looking to employ a Senior Forester to join their dynamic Team.

POSITION INFO:

Job Description: 

• Plan the re-establishment program (planting) place the plant order with nurseries and execute to achieve temporary unplanted targets within budget constraints
• Ensure maximum stocking within Silviculture standards is achieved
• Inspect operation regularly to identify risks and ensure that timeous action (blanking, pest control management)
• Plan and conduct regular field inspections to ensure that crop, through the timing of operations (weed control, pest & disease management) achieve maximum yields within cost constraints
• Develop tactical plan & ensure that the annual plan of operations for both commercial and open area comply with standard and service level agree
• Maintain and protect plantation assists
• Adhere to all environmental, conservation legislation
• Well familiar with risk/safety/FSC requirements for both Silviculture and harvesting
• Strong skills and experience in OSH Act requirements for both Silviculture
• Personnel development management
• Fire protection and control
• Budget and APO Control
• Administration

Job Requirements:

• National Forestry Diploma or degree
• Post graduate studies with be to your advantage
• Valid driver’s License
• Minimum 5 years experience in Forestry Operations
• Must be prepared to do standby and firefighting duties
• Comply with all relevant legislation, regarding operations
• Run delegated operations to industry production standards
