Position Overview
Our client is known for delivering highly customized, detail driven interior environments through a seamless process of design, technical development, manufacturing, and installation.
This individual will play a key role in transforming design vision into precise technical drawings and construction ready documentation, ensuring that contractors, carpenters, and specialist suppliers can execute every element exactly as intended.
A strong focus of this role is custom carpentry detailing, bespoke furniture development, and complex interior architectural elements.
This is a senior role within the design team, requiring strong technical expertise, design sensitivity, and the ability to anticipate potential site challenges before they occur.
Duties & Responsibilities
Interior Architecture & Technical Design Development:
•Technical Design Leadership: Translate design concepts into detailed technical drawings and documentation that allows seamless execution on site.
• Interior Architecture Detailing: Develop sophisticated technical solutions for custom elements including joinery, wall paneling, ceilings, feature elements, and architectural finishes.
• Carpentry Expertise: Lead the detailing of bespoke carpentry and custom furniture elements, ensuring precision and buildability.
• Drawing Accuracy: Produce clear, highly detailed drawings that communicate design intent precisely to contractors, suppliers, and production teams.
• Design Integrity: Ensure that all technical documentation preserves the original design vision while remaining practical to execute.
Design Intelligence & Material Knowledge:
• Material Expertise, maintain a strong and evolving knowledge of interior finishes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
• Industry Awareness, stay informed about new materials, finishes, technologies, and design developments within the industry.
• Finish Specification, assist in specifying materials and finishes that align with both design intent and practical installation requirements.
• Detail Refinement, continuously refine design details to elevate the overall quality and uniqueness of each project. Project Execution & Site Awareness Oriented Design.
Design with a deep understanding of how elements will be manufactured and installed:
• Site Awareness, anticipate and resolve potential construction or installation challenges during the design phase.
• Bottleneck Prevention: Identify technical risks early and propose solutions that simplify site execution and avoid delays.
• Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with carpenters, suppliers, and specialist fabric factors to ensure technical feasibility. Design Planning & Project Coordination
• Design Timeline Management: Carefully plan and manage design timelines to ensure all technical documentation is delivered in accordance with project schedules.
• Project Alignment: Coordinate with the design team, production coordinator, and project management team to align technical design with production and installation timelines.
• Documentation Control, maintain organized, up-to-date drawing sets for all projects. Communication & Team Contribution
• Daily Project Feedback, provide clear and consistent project updates to management regarding progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Technical Support: Assist team members in resolving complex technical detailing challenges
• Collaborative Approach, work closely with designers, project managers, and production teams to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design Leadership, contribute ideas and insights that elevate the overall quality of the design team’s work.
