ENVIRONMENT: Our client is a technology and digital solutions provider that designs, develops and maintains bespoke software solutions addressing real business challenges. They help organisations transition from traditional desktop computing to cloud-based environments while providing practical guidance, implementation and governance across digital transformation and Generative AI integration. They are seeking a Senior Kotlin\/Android Developers for 6–12-month contract roles within a merchant card machine division. The positions primarily focus on Android and Kotlin development. Candidates must also have web development experience with React Native, TypeScript and JavaScript due to the current structure of the card machine technology stack. Merchant Card Machine Environment: • The merchant card machine operates as a web-based device. When a transaction progresses to core payment processing, it uses Kotlin before returning to the web layer, which is built using TypeScript, JavaScript and related technologies. • The existing web layer contains legacy components, with the long-term objective of migrating the platform to Kotlin. New features are currently developed within the web layer where this allows for faster delivery and are later migrated to Kotlin. Candidates must therefore be comfortable working across both technology stacks. • The security layer controlling merchant access and functionality on the card machine devices is implemented in Java and operates separately from the web stack. REQUIREMENTS: Technical Requirements: • Senior-level Kotlin and Android development experience. • Web development experience using React Native, TypeScript and JavaScript. • Ability to work confidently across native Android codebases and web-based application layers. • Experience working with Java-based security components would be advantageous. • Strong understanding of payment processing or merchant device environments would be beneficial.
