Senior Laboratory Manager Seed and Biotechnology

SUMMARY:
An established agrochemical manufacturer is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to manage quality tests and coordinate a team of Analysts, ensuring the completion of assigned projects, with good turnaround times and integrity of results.

POSITION INFO:


Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a Masters or PhD degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics or related field
• Previous experience in managing a laboratory and team of analyst is essential
• Must have experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis of biological samples, with up to date knowledge of molecular analytical methodologies
• Experience in seed analysis and/or agriculture quality management would be ideal
• Good computer skills and SAP experience will be required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Operating and maintaining laboratory hardware and software.
• Tracking all samples and results progress.
• Analysing data and reporting on trends and customer requests.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting of high-tech laboratory equipment.
• Following QMS system for the laboratory.
• Ensuring all tests are performed accurately.
• Conforming to GLP principals and other prescribed quality systems and relevant regulations.
• Ensuring all relevant information is supplied timeously and accurately signing of on data integrity.
• Developing new testing protocols, methods and techniques, according to business requirement and with a focus on cost saving.
• Assisting the Biotechnology and Physiology Laboratory Managers to ensure total quality per customer needs.
• Communicating all results in a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing inventory planning and stock keeping.
• Interacting with all vendors for contract negotiations and new technologies.
• Participating in Global projects and surveys.
• Managing the QC budget with a focus on cost saving initiatives
