SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Senior Legal Advisor – Security, Legal Recoveries, Loans and Economic Development, for a 5-year contract based in East London, Eastern Cape.
POSITION INFO:
Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Degree in legal field (LLB / B. Com Law) and admission as a practicing attorney
- 10+ years legal practice / advisory experience in corporate environment, of which 5 years must be post admission as Attorney or Advocate, with relevant work experience at middle management /senior management level
- Knowledge of corporate law and / or legal recoveries essential
The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:- Legal services related to drafting, custody and perfection of securities for loans and collection of outstanding loans as well as project finance services
- Support to strategic planning and governance – develop operation plans, implement systems, manage audits
- Legal support & opinion to business units and subsidiaries – draft legal opinions, dispute analysis, legal research memoranda to attorneys, litigation cost analysis
- Legal risk mitigation – risk analysis and advise line management
- Perfection of securities for loans recoveries – develop frameworks, analyze proposals, prepare reports and develop business unit plan
- Stakeholder management – manage relationships and network with key stakeholders
- Budget management of the unit – Manage/control budget, implement corrective measures, authorize payments and prepare budget transfer requests
- People management - identify training / development needs and manage discipline/absenteeism
