Senior Logistics Manager

POSITION INFO:

Our client is seeking to employ a Senior Logistics Manager to setup and run a new department in Lobito, Angola

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Overall responsibility of the supply chain value chain, directing, optimising and coordinating full order cycle to meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timing targets;
• Forming and maintaining good relationships and liaising and negotiating with various government and non-governmental agencies, shipping, port and rail service providers, suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, transport contractors, clearing agents and consumers;
• Planning and negotiating logistics, warehousing, cataloguing, transportation, clearing agents and customer services;
• Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency;
• Develop, articulate and maintain logistic process documentation;
• Ensure regulatory compliance surrounding any import regulation, duties and taxes, ISO requirements;
• Budget control and analysis;
• Processing shipments;
• Overall operational activity scheduling;
• Customs and logistical provider liaison;
• Query/problem resolution;
• Staff management;
• Work schedules;
• Management reporting based on statistical data, maintain metrics to analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements;
• Budget control and analysis;
• Supervise, coach and train logistics workforce.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

 

• Qualification in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain;
• 6 years working experience as a Logistics Manager in the import and dispatching of commodities within a Port and Rail environment;
• Record of successful distribution and logistics management within the Port and Rail environment;
• Record of engagement with governmental and non-governmental logistics authorities and specialists;
• Demonstrate a full understanding of the logistical requirements in the Angolan environment, with local knowledge and experience an added advantage;
• Candidate must be willing to travel around Angola
