JOB DESCRIPTION:

Join this leading Life Insurer as a Senior Manager Underwriting

We are looking for a Seasoned Underwriter to lead an experienced team. As the Senior Manager Underwriting , you will be required to guide and grow the team, as we expand product ranges and distribution channels in a very fast paced environment.

You will also need to assist in leading the growth into the life insurance sales distribution, including interaction with financial advisers.

In this capacity you will be required to help craft and communicate our underwriting philosophy.

Additionally, you will also need to provide input on underwriting non-disclosures at the claims stage.

Experience and skills required:

Minimum of 10 years’ underwriting experience

Exposure to digital/e-underwriting would be an advantage

Claims exposure would be an advantage

Strong technical underwriting background

Ability to interact with financial advisers including roadshows, complaints handling and general queries

Ability to underwrite life, lump sum disability, Income Protection, Critical illness
Large case and business insurance knowledge preferable
Sound knowledge of financial underwriting
Ability to set standard for difference product ranges
Current underwriting authority limit at least R30 million

Leadership skills

Experience in managing a team
Ability to Train and develop team

Competencies

Strong communication skills
