SUMMARY:
A specialist water treatment company delivering engineered water and wastewater solutions to industrial and infrastructure clients is looking for a Senior Mechanical Draughtsman to join their team in Somerset West.

They are looking for someone who is passionate about turning complex engineering concepts into practical, build-ready designs.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

A Mechanical Engineering qualification, or 3–5 years’ relevant draughting experience (water and wastewater experience is highly advantageous)
Strong experience in mechanical design and assemblies
Proficiency in AutoCAD or BricsCAD and 3D modelling software (SolidWorks preferred)
Working knowledge of pipe routing, sheet metal, and manufacturing drawings
Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills
The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate across disciplines

Key Responsibilities:

Design layouts for water and wastewater treatment plants
Develop piping isometrics, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Assist with equipment selection and contribute to mechanical equipment R&D
Create 3D models of structural steel, piping systems, and sheet metal components
Prepare accurate manufacturing, fabrication, and installation drawings
Design sheet metal components and produce fabrication-ready documentation
Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs)
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of water and wastewater treatment projects
Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning in collaboration with project leads
Monitor and report on project progress, identifying risks or delays proactively
Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, production teams, and site personnel
Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with project requirements, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
Maintain detailed records of project milestones, design changes, and revisions
Participate in site meetings and inspections to ensure alignment with design intent
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
