POSITION INFO:
Job Description: Lead the development of mechanical and structural designs from conceptual studies through detailed design and implementation Produce practical engineering solutions that balance performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability Develop detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, engineering calculations, and technical documentation Perform engineering assessments and design verification activities to ensure robust and compliant solutions Manage multiple technical projects and coordinate engineering deliverables to meet project deadlines Collaborate with project teams, suppliers, clients, and production personnel throughout the design process Review technical designs and provide guidance on engineering best practices and design improvements Resolve technical challenges during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases Participate in site inspections, surveys, and project support activities when required Skills & Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical design engineering Experience within heavy engineering, mining, materials handling, industrial equipment, manufacturing, or related sectors Strong understanding of structural design principles and mechanical engineering fundamentals Proven experience developing equipment, machinery, fabricated structures, and engineered systems Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and engineering simulation tools Strong knowledge of engineering drawing standards, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing documentation Sound understanding of steel and aluminium design, fabrication, welding, and machining processes Qualification: BEng \/ BSc in Mechanical Engineering Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
