SUMMARY:
A client based in Kempton Park is looking for a Senior Mechanical Fitter to join their team

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements

Qualified Mechanical Fitter (Trade Tested)
5–10 years’ proven experience in mechanical maintenance
Strong knowledge of industrial machinery and rotating equipment

Experience with preventative and breakdown maintenance
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities

Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on production machinery and plant equipment
Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective breakdown repairs to minimize downtime
Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance according to maintenance schedules
Install, align, and commission mechanical equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, shafts, and couplings
Perform precision fitting, assembly, and dismantling of mechanical components
Carry out basic machining, fitting, and fabrication tasks as required
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
Ensure compliance with safety standards, lockout procedures, and maintenance best practices
Maintain accurate maintenance records and job cards
Liaise with maintenance planners, production teams, and external contractors
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability
