Senior Metallurgist

SUMMARY:
Our client has a vacancy for a Senior Metallurgist to provide metallurgical and technical support to the plant management teams in the North West Province. Do note that PGM Flotation or Chrome experience is essential!!

POSITION INFO:

Knowledge/Education Requirement:

• Matric Certificate/ Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Science).
• Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering Degree or B-Tech.
• Post Graduate qualification might be advantageous.

Experience and Requirements:

• Minimum 7-10 years post qualification experience on PGM plants and projects compulsory.
• Must have plant processing knowledge on PGM flotation.
• Chrome recovery plant experience will be advantageous.
• Must have good presentation skills.
• Good computer literacy, administration and housekeeping skills are essential.
• Must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness.
• Must have a valid code 8 driver’s license and own transport.

• A natural Leader with good communication skills.

Other Requirements:

• Reside in close proximity of Rustenburg/Brits area or be prepared to relocate.
• Prepared to perform routine official stand-by duties as may be required.
• Prepared to relieve as Production Superintendent and Plant Manager if required.

Job description:

• Support the overall operational management of processing plants, and ensure effective technical operation within the defined processing recipes.
• Assist with implementation of, and maintaining technical standards and procedures in plant.
• Perform metallurgical test work and initiate technical projects.
• Lead and participate in some process design and commissioning activities as may be required.
• Production debottlenecking and troubleshooting as well as cost optimization.
• Responsible for adequate monitoring and timely reporting of production quantity and quality parameters, metal accounting and performance data collating.
• Ensure adherence to the company’s Health and Safety Standards.
• Good employee relations and effective people management.
