POSITION INFO:
Senior Mine Surveyor
Permanent position based in the Cape West Coast - Vredendal
Minimum qualifications/experience and skill requirements:
• BSc or BTech degree in Mine Surveying
• In possession of a Mine Surveyor’s Government Certificate of Competency.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in operational mine surveying and opencast mining
• Experience in operating remotely piloted aircrafts (RPAS)/ drones as a mine surveying tool including processing of this data
• Valid drivers’ licence
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the mine is adequately equipped as far as surveying infrastructure and equipment to deliver services to all stakeholders at the mine
• Provide support to other departments as and when required
• Collection and processing of drone survey data for mine geology, environmental, site surveying and mining purposes
• Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 and with company HSE Policies and Procedures
• Prepare and manage the annual budget for the surveying section.
Key relationships:
• This role requires frequent interaction with various departmental employees, supervisors and management to provide assistance, service and support for problem resolution as needed.
• Ability to build trust and develop positive working relationships with site personnel and regulatory agencies.
