Generating detailed high precision optomechanical system designs
Manage the manufacturing of the optomechanical systems
Create detailed, high tolerance, optical and optomechanical drawings
Selecting and researching custom materials/COTS and components as required by the design
Assist with AIT to qualify newly developed systems
Create technical design documentation, ICD, and test reports
Creating integration documentation, assembly instructions, BOM’s for newly developed systems before handing over to production team
Provide technical support to sales, production, and marketing team
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience
Optics and optomechanics experience
Knowledge and experience of electro-optical payload design
Experience in guiding conceptual designs through to production and testing
Experience with AIT of optical systems making use of optical alignment instrumentation and optomechanical best practices
Creating detailed optomechanical and optical drawings using CAD
Experienced in creating technical documentation (design documentation, ICD and test documentation)
Extremely high attention to detail
Be able to work independently as well as in a team
Ability to train and share expertise with employees
Good understanding of finite element analysis as well as interpreting results
Experience with Siemens Teamcenter and NX software – advantageous
Familiar with optical design software like Zemax – advantageous
Qualification:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Optomechanical Engineering
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Optomechanical Engineering
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
