POSITION INFO:

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Senior Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring project and operational schedules to ensure effective delivery in line with business objectives.

The role requires strong coordination between operations, engineering, and management to ensure planning accuracy, resource optimisation, and timely execution of work.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain detailed project and operational schedules
• Establish baseline programmes and monitor progress against timelines
• Identify critical paths and potential risks to delivery
• Adjust schedules based on operational changes and project requirements

• Progress Tracking & Reporting

• Track progress against planned schedules and report on deviations
• Prepare regular planning reports for management and stakeholders
• Provide clear visibility on project status, risks, and delays
• Maintain accurate planning documentation and records

• Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
• Work closely with operations, engineering, and site teams to align planning requirements
• Facilitate communication between departments to ensure execution aligns with plans
• Engage with stakeholders to manage expectations and timelines

Resource & Efficiency Planning

• Assist with resource planning (labour, materials, equipment) in line with schedules
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to workflow and planning processes
• Support cost control through effective planning and utilisation of resources

Risk Management & Problem Solving

• Identify potential delays and proactively implement mitigation strategies
• Support the business in managing changes to scope, timelines, and deliverables
• Assist in resolving planning-related issues impacting delivery

3. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in a planning role within a manufacturing, engineering, or project-based environment
• Strong understanding of project scheduling and planning principles
• Experience working with planning tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and stakeholder management ability

4. ADVANTAGEOUS

• Exposure to mineral processing, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments
• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or similar field
• Experience working in structured, safety-driven operational environments
