Our client is a privately held investment environment with a diversified South African portfolio spanning real estate, hospitality, automotive, and property development sectors. This senior-level role is responsible for the financial oversight, strategic analysis, governance, and performance management of multiple operating entities and investment assets.The successful candidate will work directly with principal shareholders and senior stakeholders, taking ownership of portfolio reporting, financial modelling, investment analysis, and operational oversight across various sectors.This is not a role for someone who enjoys staying comfortably within one lane. You’ll move between boardrooms, investment reviews, development discussions, operational site visits, and strategic financial planning, often all within the same week.
The environment requires a highly analytical, commercially aware, and hands-on CA(SA) who can confidently operate at executive level while still being willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the financial and operational performance of a diversified investment portfolio across multiple sectors.
· Prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packs for board-level review.
· Conduct financial modelling, DCF valuations, ROI analysis, and scenario planning across portfolio assets.
· Monitor portfolio performance against investment benchmarks and strategic objectives.
· Lead financial due diligence processes for potential acquisitions and new investment opportunities.
· Prepare investment memoranda and strategic recommendations for shareholders and directors.
· Analyse sector-specific financial metrics and identify performance improvement opportunities.
· Manage relationships with banks, auditors, tax advisors, and external stakeholders.
· Ensure IFRS compliance, statutory reporting accuracy, and sound governance practices across all entities.
· Oversee tax compliance, treasury management, and cash flow forecasting across the portfolio.
· Identify operational and financial risks and implement appropriate controls and reporting frameworks.
· Conduct periodic travel to investment assets including development sites, operational businesses, and hospitality properties.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
· CA(SA) qualification and active SAICA registration (non-negotiable).
· Minimum 8–10 years post-articles experience.
· Strong exposure to investment environments, private equity, family office structures, or multi-entity portfolios.
· Proven experience in financial reporting, consolidations, and board reporting.
· Advanced financial modelling and investment analysis capability.
· Experience within property, hospitality, development, automotive, or diversified investment sectors will be advantageous.
· Strong understanding of IFRS, South African tax legislation, and corporate governance principles.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong commercial acumen.
· Ability to operate independently and manage multiple high-level workstreams simultaneously.
