SUMMARY:
Senior Process Engineer - role involves conceptual and detailed engineering, process simulation, equipment specification, and ensuring compliance with industry standards

POSITION INFO:
Location: Irene, Pretoria
Employment Type: Contract (1 year)
Work Model: In Office (Including Travelling)

Key Responsibilities:

Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and mass balance calculations.
Perform process simulations and calculations for sizing equipment and systems.
Prepare technical specifications and data sheets for process equipment.
Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
Provide input during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to integrate process requirements.
Support project planning, cost estimation, and risk assessments.
Plan and review laboratory and pilot-scale testing to validate process parameters.
Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, and EC&I engineers on plant design and integration.
Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimates for projects.
Conduct site visits and manage on-site activities during execution or commissioning phases (locally and internationally).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or metallurgical engineering.
7+ years of experience
Strong background in mineral processing.
Knowledge of leaching, solvent extraction, precipitation, and electrowinning processes is advantageous
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of project management and EPCM workflows.
Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with commissioning and/or a production environment is advantageous.
