Senior Production Coordinator

SUMMARY:
Leading supplier of Fashion Footwear seeks a driven, organised, and passionate Senior Production Coordinator to join their dynamic Durban based team.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Working alongside Senior Merchandiser to assist with sales and meeting targets.
• Building strong relationships with buyers, ensuring excellent service and interaction at all times.
• Taking briefs, sending out costing enquiries, and following up on price negotiations where required.
• Executing development and test sample make up with suppliers.
• Ensuring confirmed orders are placed and followed up.
• Responsible for driving and managing the coordination of orders from confirmation to delivery.
• Chasing all approvals and samples, processing relevant documentation, and submitting to buyers.
• Chasing for timeous approval comments and sending clear and accurate comments to factories / suppliers.
• Proactively assisting suppliers with all queries and assisting with problem solving.
• Liaising constantly with buyers and assistants and building relationships with them.
• Liaising constantly with suppliers to ensure accurate communication and milestone tracking.
• Liaising constantly with Merchandiser(s), designers, QA, to provide feedback and status updates.
• Proactively following up on all orders to ensure critical milestones are met to ensure timeous delivery.
• Problem solving and advising Management of any issues that may impact delivery etc.
• Building strong working relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Chasing up factories / suppliers and building relationships with them.
• Reporting to Management on order status, deliveries, sales feedback, etc.
• Keeping tracking system and progress reports updated. 

Requirements and Competencies

• Tertiary qualification in fashion/retail management or similar would be an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in production co-ordinating (imports).
• Industry experience working and dealing with key SA retailers and buyers.
• A good understanding of merchandise cycles, the supply chain, and dealing with China.
• Ability to work with suppliers and manage the production process, deadlines, and delivery.
• Very strong admin skills and a clear understanding of lead times.
• Must be organised, structured, and pro-active.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• Ability to handle pressure, problem solve, and make decisions.
• Must be a committed team player.
• Computer literate (would be an advantage to have worked on Swift).
