Senior Project Consultant

The scope will include but will not be limited to:

• Coach, mentor and supervise project managers and stream leads.
• Devise and implement solutions related to project processes and quality improvements; mainly enabling agility and correcting inefficiencies in workflow (Way of Work).
• Implement Robust Project Controls, Tracking and Monitoring structures
• Implement and mature Project Planning, Measurement, Analytics and Reporting Systems.
• Advance and Mature the Agile Processes and Practices within projects.
• Drive the implementation and use of Agile tooling and training within the project: Jira and Confluence.
• Drive value-based project delivery approach within projects.
• Provide guidance and monitor the progress made at key project stages and facilitate suitable interventions.
• Assist in Integrated Project Planning: Phase plans.
• Ensure project phase planning incorporates principles and practices of agility to ensure successful delivery.
• Validate and quality assure project schedules in terms of the quality of the project plan, proper analysis of trade-offs, and so forth.
• Assist in ensuring quality of baselines and estimates.
• Analyse existing project plans, in terms of their strengths, risks and weaknesses; and recommend improvements.
• Assist with the coordination of relevant functions in providing a holistic approach that includes all factors pertinent to the phase value and delivery success.
• Assist in ensuring effective delivery and project success.

Administration

• Provide inputs in programme planning and improvement ideas and plans to the Programme Manager.
• Provide inputs to the Programme Manager about performance and development identified on the ground, for project managers and stream leads.
• Provides updated actual and accurate estimated hours and timelines to the Programme Manager.
• Provides progress reports to the Programme Manager.
• Undertake periodic reviews to make sure that projects are on track and reporting to the Programme Manager.

• Relationships with programme manager, project managers, stream leads and project team members.

External Relationship:

• Relationships with project team members from vendors allocated to / providing services to the programme initiatives.

Knowledge, experience and personal competencies
Education and experience:

• Honour''s degree in project management, master’s degree preferred.
• And a bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science, or related discipline.
• Agile and Waterfall Methodology Certifications, an added advantage.
• A minimum of 15 years'' experience in project management and/ or project consultancy; of IT and Business Systems implementation projects.
• Extensive experience with both agile and waterfall project methodologies implementations.
• Experience with coaching and mentoring project managers, and capacity building of others.
• Financial services or banking industry knowledge.
• Expert level proficiency in various project management software, including agile tools.
• Experience working on large scale, complex and transformation organisational projects, as a senior project manager.
• Experience in leading both virtual and physical teams.
• Expertise in creating robust project control, monitoring and reporting structures.
