Senior QA (in-house)

SUMMARY:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior QA (in-house) to join a dynamic branded clothing company based in Mount Edgecombe, Durban.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the in-house QA function for branded fashion merchandise (Imports).
• Implementing QA processes and best practice to ensure brand specifications and quality requirements.
• Full responsibility to signing off on all Fit, PP, and Bulk samples in-house (own brands).
• Ensuring quality, fit and fabric of merchandise is up to company/brand standards by applying stringent quality checks and processes.
• Establishing and creating specs and grading for all categories across the brands.
• Ensuring accuracy of wash care label content and other legal requirements as applicable to garments.
• Instructing and working with suppliers on making up of all samples.
• Measuring, fitting, and approval of all samples against brief/requirements - Fits, PPS, etc
• Assisting suppliers with required amendments to fit/patterns/specs/etc (where required).
• Acting as the company liaison on all QA issues.
• Assisting suppliers with production issues, construction queries, etc
• Liaising constantly with suppliers to ensure compliance with both the technical and aesthetic requirements of the relevant styles.
• Managing AQL Audit processes and ensuring all orders pass before shipping/delivery.
• Liaising with external auditors on queries etc when required.
• Assisting Management in solving supplier- and customer-related quality problems and queries.
• Working closely with design and coordination team to ensure smooth workflow for all orders.
• Building strong working relationships with suppliers and customers.

Requirements

• Matric certificate and relevant training/qualification in clothing.
• Minimum 5 years working experience in a similar position at senior level.
• Relevant quality knowledge and experience in clothing and dealing with retailers.
• Must have product knowledge to be able to provide technical instruction.
• Understanding of garment construction, patterns, fabrics, relevant technical and quality requirements.
• Understanding of measuring techniques/ requirements/ acceptable standards across various categories.
• Experience dealing with brands will be advantageous.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be organised and structured.
• Must be responsible and accountable.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
