Senior Receptionist

SUMMARY:
The Senior Receptionist is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the reception and front office department, ensuring a professional, efficient, and welcoming experience for all guests and visitors. The role involves supervising reception staff, coordinating guest services, handling administrative duties, and supporting the Front Office Manager or Lodge/Hotel Manager in maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the reception and front office department
• Welcome and professionally assist all guests and visitors
• Manage guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently
• Handle reservations, room allocations, payments, and guest accounts
• Respond to guest enquiries, requests, and complaints in a professional manner
• Supervise, train, and support junior reception staff
• Ensure excellent communication between reception and all other departments
• Maintain accurate guest records and administrative documentation
• Handle telephone calls, emails, and general correspondence
• Assist with cash-ups, banking, and financial administration where required
• Ensure that all front office procedures and standards are consistently followed
• Coordinate special requests, transfers, activities, and guest arrangements
• Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively resolve any issues
• Assist with staff scheduling and duty allocation
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and presentation at all times
• Assist the Front Office Manager or Lodge/Hotel Manager with daily operations and projects

POSITION INFO:
Education and Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent Hospitality or Front Office qualification would be advantageous Computer literacy is essential Knowledge of hotel or lodge reservation systems is advantageous Experience: Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a Receptionist or Front Office position Previous supervisory or senior-level experience is advantageous Experience within a hotel, lodge, luxury property, or hospitality environment would be beneficial Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong leadership and supervisory abilities Professional and well-presented Excellent customer service skills Strong organisational and administrative skills Ability to multitask and work under pressure Strong problem-solving abilities Attention to detail Good computer skills Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays A positive, friendly, and professional attitude Ability to work independently and as part of a team
